Be The Bookworm
I am an elementary school librarian who has created a Makerspace in our library. Our Makerspace is in a public elementary school with a little over 500 students from TK – 5th grade.
Our students are using, 3D printers, sewing machines, power tools, Legos, Ozobots, Dash & Dot, Perler Beads, arts & crafts and anything else they can dream up. Our Makerspace is open to the students during recess and lunch and it is amazing what they can get done in a short amount of time. Teachers also schedule a time to bring their classes to Makerspace. All of our Makerspace activities are happening while our library is also open. Every day brings something new and some days it feels like we are a “Circus on Fire.”
